Dear Detectives,

The suspense, the excitement, the twists, and turns—what a journey it has been! As we conclude our captivating read-a-long of A.J Wilton’s "Mortice: Justice Mort Style," it’s time to look back at the high points, the burning questions, and the fantastic contributions from our community of bloggers and Bookstagrammers.

****SPOILER ALERT****

Week 1: The Ground Shakes

Our adventure began with an unexpected revelation about Pig, whose bisexuality added a layer of complexity to his character. This twist not only deepened our understanding of Pig but also challenged the conventional stereotypes and norms surrounding a ‘masculine army brat.’

Question 1:

Chapter 3: Pig’s romance! Do you think this adds complexity to his character and challenges conventional stereotypes and norms of a ‘masculine army brat?’

As we navigated through the initial chapters, we were also prompted to reflect on our favorite characters. Each choice revealed the diverse perspectives within our community, highlighting the rich tapestry of characters Wilton has crafted.

Question 2:

General: Who is your favorite character and why?

Week 2: The Plot Thickens

By the second week, we were deep into the narrative, questioning Benson’s guilt and the legitimacy of his formal Statutory Declaration. The speculation and discussions were a testament to Wilton’s knack for creating multi-layered mysteries.

Question 3:

Chapter 10: Do you think Benson is guilty? Does his formal Statutory Declaration seem legitimate? Discuss.

Meanwhile, the dynamic between Suzie and Mort was put under the microscope as they navigated the treacherous waters of working together under Dunnies Law.

Question 4:

Week 3: Twists and Turns

As we reached the midpoint of our read-a-long, the twists came hard and fast. Our initial impressions of the book were revisited, and many of us were pleasantly caught off guard by Wilton’s plot surprises.

Question 5:

General: What are your first impressions of the book so far? Has A.J Wilton surprised you with plot twists? Did you see them coming or were you caught off guard?

In Chapter 15, the ethical dilemma faced by Suzie and Mort regarding Beth added another layer of moral complexity to the story.

Question 6:

Chapter 15: Would you help Beth if you were in Suzie’s shoes? Do you think Suzie and Mort made the right decision not telling Beth the truth about her husband's death?

Week 4: Climax and Conclusion
